Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Arts

For those that love music and art, you won’t want to miss the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art beginning on September 19 and running through October 12, 2014. Come celebrate the arts and enjoy the musical entertainment and more at this annual event.

This year’s festival kicks off on Friday, September 19 with Seaside Palette from 8 a.m. until dusk on Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. Join over 50 artists as they gather in the Georgetown Historic District to participate in this 2nd annual artist’s event. On Saturday from 3-5 p.m. you’ll be able to meet the artists and purchase their work at the Wet Paint Sale on the lawn of the Kaminski House. Rain dates: Sept. 26 & 27.

Chalk Under the Oaks takes place at Huntington Beach State Park on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. when you’re welcome to join in and try your hand at this Italian tradition of street painting. Or come Sunday, Sept. 28 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for viewing only. This tradition dates back to the 16th century when artists would travel from town to town for religious festivals and transform the streets and public squares into temporary galleries for their art.

Pawleys Island Wine & Food Gala is being held at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 2. Sample close to 70 wines from renowned vineyards around the world, craft beer tasting and enjoy hors d’oeuvres prepared by eight of the area’s top chefs. Wines will be available for purchase at prices below retail only during this event. Ticket price is $100. Limited to 350 tickets. Casual cocktail attire please. Cash bar available. Rain or shine. The Collector’s Circle will take place during the Wine Gala at 7 p.m. on October 2 at The Reserve Golf Club. Guests who choose to join the Collector’s Circle will have the opportunity to taste some very special, select, limited production wines. The Collector’s Circle wine pouring will be going on simultaneously with the Wine & Food Gala. Members of the Collector’s Circle will be able to go from one event to the other throughout the evening. Ticket Price: $150 each will include admission to the 15th Annual Pawley’s Island Wine & Food Gala as well as the Collector’s Circle Private Tasting. Tickets are limited to 50 guests and are only available by calling the Festival office at 843-626-8911.

Also during the Wine Gala is the Reverse Drawing. If your ticket is the last one pulled you will win $5,000!

An on-site Silent Auction will feature a Trilogie Champagne Set, vacations, local cruises, private dinner parties by local chefs, tickets, art and more.

Don’t miss the Dessert Tasting back by popular demand! The complimentary three hour dessert tasting is being provided by Pawleys Island Bakery. All these events are held at the Wine Gala!

The Manhattan Transfer will be performing at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 3 in The Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. Tickets are $25 General Admission, $35 Reserved Seating, and $75 Preferred Seating.

The Rodney Mack Philadelphia Big Brass ‘Brothers on the Battlefield’ will be performed at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 4 in the Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. This theatrical show includes a historically-informed narrative and a multimedia presentation in honor of the end of the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. Six virtuoso brass musicians, a narrator and pianist perform a broad range of music from the Civil War through the Civil Rights Movement. Tickets are $25 General Admission, $35 Reserved Seating, and $75 Preferred Seating.

The Teach My People Collaborative Event featuring the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 5 in the Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. Rhythm’funk’innovation’excitement: that’s the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble (NCYTE). One of the best youth tap ensembles in the world, NCYTE features 40 dancers, ages 8 to 18, who hail from throughout North Carolina. Tickets are $15 Reserved Seating and $25 Preferred Seating.

Ken Lavigne ‘The Road to Carnegie Hall’ will perform at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8 in the Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. This singer, composer, communicator and consummate entertainer was recognized early for the outstanding timbre of his lyric tenor voice as well as the ease and agility with which he sings. Ken’s career has taken many directions that include his current touring show, The Road to Carnegie Hall. Tickets are $25 Reserved Seating and $35 Preferred Seating.

Swingle Singers will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 9 in the Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. These seven young and versatile voices deliver folk ballads, funk jams and fugues with equal precision and passion. Their vocal agility and blend, combined with captivating showmanship, have thrilled generations of audiences around the globe. Tickets are $25 General Admission, $35 Reserved Seating, and $75 Preferred Seating.

The Annie Moses Band will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 10 in the Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. This band’s innovative sound has delighted audiences around the world in record breaking numbers of airings on PBS and on stages as diverse as Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry. Tickets are $25 General Admission, $35 Reserved Seating, and $50 Preferred Seating.

The Bronx Wanderers will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 11 in the Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. One Part ‘Oldies’, Two Parts ‘Rock N’ Roll’ is how this band is best described. Tickets are $25 General Admission, $45 Reserved Seating.

The festival wraps up with Sunday Seaside Showcase — a new event this year that will showcase some of the area’s finest musicians and vocalists. The event culminates in a grand finale jam session to support our Wounded Warriors and to honor our military and their families. This free event is Sunday, October 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Performance Tent at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island.
